I like giving back to the community and helping other advisers, it’s really satisfying to know I’ve been able to help them deliver better outcomes for their clients and create a commercial benefit for them too.

As the sole adviser in his business, Grant Millar feels being a financial advisor can be a lonely profession, and it can be easy to sometimes get “stuck in your own head”.

Grant counteracts this through sharing ideas and inspiration with other advice professionals who have had similar experiences or who work in a similar type of business.

“These are the people to bounce ideas around with, and who you should be getting your resources from”, he says.

Prior to joining Ensombl, the only people Grant could reliably ask for help or seek answers to questions, were those in his small team.

What Grant values most about being on the Ensombl platform is having the ability to instantaneously connect with experts when he has a specific question.

“Recently, I was dealing with a really complex insurance claim. To answer the questions I had, I approached the technical team from the product provider, and I also spoke to other advisers on Ensombl. Through discussions on the platform, there were several advisers who were willing to give me the benefit of their time, experience, and expertise. They shared their ideas, answered my questions and pointed out the traps to avoid. They did this for no other reason than to help me give my client the best outcome. If I didn’t have the Ensombl network to lean on, the only lens I would have had on the situation would have been the legal and technical one from the product provider. But when you are dealing with real life clients, you often need a more practical, and dare I say, more human perspective”.

For all of the wisdom and knowledge sharing Grant has received on Ensombl, he also enjoys being able to give back and contribute to help other advisers. Grant has become an expert in understanding the complexities of the First Home Super Saver Scheme, and shares his knowledge in discussions on the platform, and also in 1-on-1 conversations when advisers reach out to him directly with a question. “I like that I can give back to the community and help other advisers, it’s really satisfying to know I’ve been able to help them deliver better outcomes for their clients and create a commercial benefit for them too”.
